Should selfies be banned?

Govt of India these days is on a streak of banning things which according to them are against the interest of nations and is somehow compromising country’s ethnicity. These bans vary widely, staring from use of vulgar words in movies like “The F words”, MC or BC and a lot more. The bans continued to dominate as other bans were 2-minute noodles giant MAGGI, the beef ban in Maharashtra, eggs in mid-day meal in schools of Madhya Pradesh and another one which created a lot of rage, the epic PORN BAN! This ban somehow managed to unite all the youth and OTHERS to oppose this move by government. Though the ban was temporary and was lifted pretty soon.

As we are already on the path of banning what we see next causing cultural issues, I will like to catch the eyeballs of all towards this serious issue called SELFIE. Selfies are very vicious to the human life. It has potential threats which causes extreme negligence. A person taking a selfies doesn’t pays attention to the surrounding as he/she is too busy in adjusting the perfect frame for the selfies to look kool. Such cases of utter ignorance are seen day by day. One of the recent case came was of a Japanese tourist.

The incident took place on 18th sep ’15 when a 66 year old Japanese tourist along with his 3 other companion came to visit The Taj Mahal, one of the 7 wonders in India. The Japanese tourist died allegedly after slipping down the stairs of the “so called” 17th century monument. An eye witness Sagar Singh told BBC that the tourist fell while taking selfie.

Russian government has already launched an awareness campaign to make the youth think twice before taking a slefie in risky conditions. This campaign was launched after several kids were electrocuted while posing for a selfies on railway carriages.

Also, a 21 year old woman survived an accident of shooting herself after she was posing for a selife with a loaded gun.

In August, a man in Spain was gored to death by a bull while taking a selfie at the annual bull running festival in the town of Villaseca de la Sagra.

One of the important thing which I see is, taking selfies in public places makesother uncomfortable. It might be the gestures or poses given by the selfies take.Yes, Pouts are overrated.

sciencePC :

A case study done by an European business school, titled “Tagger’s Delight? Disclosure and liking behavior in Facebook: the effects of sharing photographs amongst multiple known social circles” was done by 4 professors claimed that people who post more selfies have shallow relationships with people. You know, real, live people. With heartbeats! Increased frequency of sharing photographs of the self, regardless of the type of target sharing the photographs, is related to a decrease in intimacy. Further conclusion was drawn that most of facebook friends get annoyed when they have to see selfies of their co-workers on their wall.

Banning selfies is a tough call as PM of India too is a big selfie fan. Come on, it has disadvantages too!

So to sum it up, It’s high time we should get such a Russia like campaign or just ban selfies. As simple as that!

P.S – the author of this post is a big selfie freak! #NMukul PathakoHardFeelings
