Ind vs SA T20 match interrupted, Public throwing water bottle on ground

In the second T20 cricket match between India and South Africa at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Fans showed their outrage by throwing empty water bottles. Fortunately the bottles fell on the empty practice arena not on the ground.

South Africa were 64/3 in 11 overs when play had to be stopped. Angry and disappointed spectators hurled missiles, mainly water bottles, into the cricket ground after India were bundled out for 92 against South Africa This being India’s second lowest score so far in T20 cricket. Play resumed after 27 minutes but after a couple of overs the players walked off yet again. Later match was continued and SA won comfortably by 7 wickets,

The Police force was busy watching game than controlling the crowd, alleged Sunil Gavaskar.

Bottles are incidentally banned in most of the venues in India where water is supplied in pouches but an Odisha Cricket Association official said in Barabati Stadium the situation is different.

“We have banned small water bottles and water pouches which can travel more distance than a big size bottle which is not banned here,” an OCA official said.

This may lead to some serious action taking on the Cuttack stadium. Might eventually face ban.
