He’s a source of inspiration and pride to the past geneartions and will continue to inpire future generations. Remembered as adjust and wise king and his rule as one of the six golden ages in Indian history.

Indian warrior king and a member of the Bhonsle Maratha clan, carved out an enclave from the declining Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur that formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire. At a tender age of 14, Shivaji Maharaj started his journey of creating his own kingdom. Mughals were probably the second most powerful empire in the world at that time. The odds were stacked against young Shivaji. But by bravery and hard work, Shivaji Maharaj outwitted the Mughals time and again. He not only brought a glimmer of hope but values like independence, freedom of religion, social justice to a barren land.

“Is there a greater hero, a greater saint, a greater bhakta and a greater king than Shivaji? Shivaji was the very embodiment of a born ruler of men as typified in our great Epics. He was the type of the real son of India representing the true consciousness of the nation. It was he who showed what the future of India is going to be sooner or later, a group of independent units under one umbrella as it were, under one supreme imperial suzerainty.” – Swami Vivekananda

“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.”
(Kashi would have lost its splendour, Mathura would have become a mosque; if it had not been for Shivaji, all would have been circumcised)
– Kavi Bhushana
