Social media is blazed with joy of having a well known Indian actor on Game of Thrones. Though he won’t be the first Indian to be on Game of thrones. That ship has sailed with a female character who already has been on the cold blooded but the fan favorite TV show. We might soon here the official statement from HBO and Game of Thrones about the casting of Neil Nitin Mukesh. Let’s take a look on the Indian origin actor on Game of Thrones :-
Indira Varma’s character is well known on Game of Thrones as Ellaria Sand, the paramour of Prince Martell. She appeared first in season four when Princ Oberyn came to Westeros to attend king Jeoffery’s wedding. The wedding quite didn’t go well leaving Jeoffery dead on his wedding and blame coming on his uncle and fan favorite Tyrion Lannister. To save the innocents live and take revenge for the death of his sister, prince Oberyn became the fighter for Tyrion at the “Trial by combat” opposite to the Mountain. Again this did not go well as Oberyn was face smashed leaving Indira’s character Ellaria heart broken and this is when we got to see this amazing reaction of her :-
This tragic death of Oberyn left Illaria in shock and she decided to take revenge of his lover’s death from the Lannisters. This made her stay for season 5 and forming The Sand Snakes with daughters of Oberyn and planning to kidnap and kill Princess Myrcella Baratheon.
Indira Varma is a British citizen but has her roots from India. Her father is an Indian married to an Italian woman. Indira was also the part of Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love in 1997.
Amrita Acharia –
Irri (played by Amrita Acharia) – a Dothraki handmaid of Daenerys Targaryen’s who, while being totally straight, has no problem getting it on with her khaleesi whenever the mood strikes Daenerys Targaryen . She’s never portrayed as having any real romantic or sexual bond with Dany like Doreah does. You might recall her with this image,
Amrita Acharia is of Nepalese – Ukranian heritage and is Hindu by religion. She basically is not an Indian as she grew up in Ukraine, Kathmandu and England before moving with her family to Norway aged 13. After completing high school in Tromsø, Amrita moved to England to pursue her acting career. Since then she has worked in Norway, London and the US. She speaks Ukrainian, Norwegian and English.
Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion
Thses are the three Dragon’s of Khaleesi and it’s CGI were made in India. This CGI version was used in Essos when Khaleesi was attacked by sons of Harpy. Drogon stepped in to save his mother. This dragon’s CGI were actually created in Goregaon, Mumbai. An Indian subsidiary of Prana Studios—a 3D, visual effects and animation company based in Los Angeles—developed the three fire-breathing beasts for the fifth season
These are named after
- Drogon, named after Khal Drogo, black with red markings. Larger than his siblings.
- Rhaegal, named after Rhaegar Targaryen, green with bronze markings.
- Viserion, named after Viserys Targaryen, creamy white, with gold markings.
